The Curve - Lake St. to Cedar St.

Project Overview
US-2, Lake Street to Cedar Street
“The Curve”
The US-2, Lake Street to Cedar Street project, also known as “The Curve” project is intended
to improve safety, provide capacity for future growth and improve the operation of US-2 from Lake Street to Cedar Street in Sandpoint.
This project would improve the flow of traffic on Boyer, and preserve or improve existing pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
The project will be designed to American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and will include but not be limited to constructing curb ramps,
crosswalks, and crosswalk signage. During construction, access to businesses and residences will be maintained. There could be temporary closures
and changes to access but there will always be advance notice.
Currently ITD is working on solutions/options to address the deficiencies in this corridor. Before deciding on the best solution,
we must fully identify and evaluate the problems. This involves collecting traffic and collision information, speaking with business owners
and residents, determining what environmental issues would be encountered and considering community and highway user needs. Ultimately,
the Idaho Department of Transportation will decide on the final solution. Project staff members are meeting with business owners along the
corridor to try to obtain a full picture of the issues to be addressed.
A public hearing was held Feb. 28, 2013, to gather public comments on the identified alternatives, including a preferred alternative.
The alternative maps, including the criteria used to develop the alternatives, and a schedule timeline are available by clicking on the
appropriate link on the right side of this web page.
