ITD Projects Southwest Idaho ID 55, North Fork Payette River Bridge

ID 55, North Fork Payette River Bridge

Project Facts
Key number: 08670

Project Description
The project is located on Idaho 55 on the south side of the city of Cascade, near the Cascade Airport. The project replaces the existing bridge over the N. Fork of the Payette River, and reconstruct the adjacent roadway approaches.

The existing bridge was built in 1933 and does not meet current width standards and is considered functionally obsolete. The proposed bridge will be built to current safety standards, improving safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. This federally funded bridge project will cost $4.83 million.

Construction Activities
Construction is anticipated to take two construction seasons and should be completed by the fall of 2013.

Once the west half of the bridge and approaches are built, traffic will be routed to the new roadway and bridge. The existing bridge will then be demolished and the remainder of the new bridge (east half) will be built in the same manner.
