ITD Idaho 16 , Floating Feather Road Intersection
Project Facts
Key Number: 09483Project Number: STP-3330(106) The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) proposes to increase motorist safety by providing left turn bays for north- and south-bound traffic on Idaho 16. Project Background
Idaho 16, between Emmett and the junction of Idaho 44, is an important corridor that connects Gem and Ada counties. The once rural area is changing from farms and orchards to subdivisions and businesses. Increased traffic is creating safety and congestion concerns.
Project Description
ITD incorporated a left turn bay on Idaho 16 at the intersection. A 10-foot box culvert exists within the projects limits and was extended on both sides of Idaho 16 to allow for the lane addition.
Traffic Impacts
For the first several months of the project, there was a shoulder closure, and the speed limit was reduced to 35 mph. Then from about April through early summer, a lane closure was required and flaggers were on hand.
Project Update
No additional right-of-way was needed to accommodate the left turn bays.
