ITD U.S. 95 Weiser Snake River Bridge
Project Facts
Key Number: 7832 Project Number: BR-3110(127) The Idaho Transportation Department, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation, will replace the Snake River Bridge near Weiser. Project Background
The project was originally proposed as a bridge rehabilitation. However, it was determined that constructing a new bridge would cost only slightly more than rehabilitation of the existing structure.
Work completed to date consists of concept report approval, preliminary design review, environmental clearance, design approval, final design review and completed plans specification & estimate. The only right-of-way to be acquired is on the Oregon side and ODOT has completed this process. Utility companies have either relocated in advance of construction activities or are coordinating the placement of their respective facilities. A public meeting was held in Weiser in June 2004 to provide interested individuals, agencies and groups an opportunity to review proposed design plans, have questions answered and provide comment on the project. The transportation department is currently in the process of awarding this project to Sletten Construction Company of Great Falls, Mont. Project Description
Construction of the new bridge is currently proposed to begin in 2008.
Construction will be completed in two phases: In the first phase, a one-lane structure will be built adjacent to the old bridge on the downstream side. When complete, traffic will shift to the new structure while the old bridge is removed. Temporary traffic signals at either end of the bridge will control the single lane of traffic. When the old bridge is completely removed, the second half of the new bridge will be built and the two structures adjoined. The new bridge will include shoulders and sidewalks to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. Make Comments
