Project Facts
Key Number: 6961
Project Number: NH-2390(149)

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) plans to reconstruct the pavement and drainage facilities on Blue Lakes Boulevard from Falls Avenue to Pole Line Road. Construction is slated to begin in January, 2009 on drainage facilities with construction of the roadway beginning in spring, 2009. Construction includes addition of a storm water drainage system throughout the corridor, reconstruction of the road, and relocation and securing of underground utilities.

Project Background
The Blue Lakes corridor (U.S. 93) serves a vital transportation and economic role in the vitality of Twin Falls City and the Magic Valley. The corridor serves as a major artery into Twin Falls from Interstate 84, as well as a major commercial center. The corridor currently serves up to 40,000 vehicles every day with peak periods during mid-day and on the weekends.

Project Description
The Blue Lakes Boulevard corridor area under consideration will extend from the Five Points intersection at Addison Avenue to the Perrine Bridge. Due to current funding, the proposed reconstruction will be limited, at this time, to the section from Falls Avenue to Poleline Road. This reconstruction process will not include widening Blue Lakes or raised medians in the current construction section.

Safety Improvements
  • New storm water drainage system will extend the service life of the roadway by reducing standing water.
  • Improve road quality
  • Relocate and secure utility services in the corridor
