ITD Projects GARVEE D3 I84 Caldwell to Meridian Project Corridor I84 Eagle Road Westbound Off-ramp

I-84, Eagle Road Westbound Off-ramp

Project Facts

Project Number: A009(980)
Key Number: 09980
MP 45.975-46.6

The Westbound Eagle Road Off-ramp project widened and extended the westbound I-84 off-ramp onto Eagle Road. The completed off-ramp begins 1,600 feet sooner on I-84 at the Ridenbaugh Canal. The improved off-ramp includes double right and double left-turn lanes for turning north and south onto Eagle Road.

The new off-ramp prevents vehicles from backing up onto the interstate shoulder while trying to exit and allows for better turning movements onto Eagle Road.

Eagle road is one of the most-traveled highways in the state. It is the primary access to northern Ada County and the city of Eagle from Interstate 84 (I-84). Every day as many as 22,000 vehicles use the westbound Eagle road off-ramp.

ITD conducted the Eagle Road Arterial Study in 2003 to determine ways to increase safety, manage traffic more efficiently between the I-84 off-ramps and Idaho 44 (State Street).

Preliminary design and final design were completed by ITD prior to this project becoming part of the GARVEE Program. Construction began in March 2007 and substantial completion was achieved September 2007.
