I-84, Garrity Interchange to Meridian Interchange
Project Number: A010(459)
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is widening and reconstructing approximately six miles of I-84 between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges. A third lane in both directions opened this fall.
This project designed a fourth lane on approximately 6.5 miles of I-84, eastbound and westbound; paved the median, readjusted roadway profiles, and added drainage facilities within the existing median between the Garrity Boulevard and Meridian Road interchanges. The construction for this project was broken into several phases. These pages are listed below under the following projects.
In 2001, the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and ITO completed a cooperative planning effort called the I-84 Corridor study. The study examined the transportation system needs I-84 corridor from the WYE Interchange to Idaho 44 west of Caldwell. The study recommended specific improvements that warranted further evaluation and implementation. The recommendation was included in the COMPASS study.
Preliminary design was completed in August 2007 and final design was completed in July 2009. Construction began in January 2008 and substantial completion was achieved July 2001.
