The current interchange at I-84 and Meridian Road was built in 1965. Since that time, interchange traffic has increased from 15,000 to 128,000 vehicles per day. In 2008, ITD completed and environmental study of I-84 between Karcher Road in Nampa and Five Mile Road in Boise. The study recommended widening the interstate to four lanes in both directions between Garrity and Meridian interchanges. Many of the bridges over I-84 were replaced to accomodate additional lanes underneath. Replacing the Meridian Interchange will allow ITD to finish widening I-84. Schedule
