Why it Matters
Idaho 48 is the main east-west artery in Rigby, connecting the population centers on both sides of U.S. 20 that divides the community. Improving the 1.7-mile corridor in the center of the city will provide the capacity needed to meet growing traffic needs into the foreseeable future, especially at the access roads to Rigby High School.
Project Description
This project will widen Idaho 48 to three lanes, add a right-turn bay to the high school entrance, include a bike lane on both sides of the street and install curb, gutter and sidewalk along the busy route in Rigby. Work will take place this summer and fall.
ITD will reconstruct one side of the road at a time so that the highway can remain open, thus facilitating traffic flow and minimizing inconvenience to motorists.
