U.S. 20, Henry's Lake Flat

Fast Facts

Location: On U.S. 20 in Island Park
Actual Cost: $2.3 million
bullet Jobs Created / Sustained: 41

Why it Matters

U.S. 20 is the main east-west arterial in eastern Idaho, running 100 miles between Idaho Falls and the Montana state line. Improving the 6.5-mile stretch of the Henry’s Lake Flat in Island Park will improve traffic safety and flow along a busy two-lane section of the corridor.

Project Description

This project will construct passing lanes on northbound U.S. 20 between Island Park Lodge and Red Rock Road and on southbound U.S. 20 between the Henry’s Fork Outlet Bridge and the junction of Idaho 87. Work will take place this summer.

ITD will reconstruct one side of the road at a time so that the highway can remain open, thus minimizing disruption to local, commercial and tourist traffic.
