What is Planning Services?
Planning Services is a section of the Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Engineering Services. It is a central office responsible for providing long term direction for the planning and management of Idaho's state highway system, as well as tracking the delivery of projects within the Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP). Planning services includes the Planning, Project Management, and GIS offices. These offices work together to collectively provide quality planning and project development products, services, and information to support and guide transportation investment decisions.
What Does Planning Services Do?
- We articulate a long term vision for Idaho's state highway system and implement statewide transportation policy through partnerships with federal, state, regional, and local agencies.
- We oversee the framework for the department's project management process and employ a number of tools to manage projects efficiently and effectively.
- We generate the statewide construction bid letting schedule to optimize schedule and cost effectiveness for ITD and contractor resources as well as advance the departments goals for project acceleration.
- We provide geographic information products and services through the development of spatially enabled application, databases, mapping products, analysis, education, and technical support.
