This project will determine whether the use of high percentages of RAP in pavement mixes significantly increases fatigue and thermal cracking.
It will provide guidelines that ITD could consider to update its current RAP specification.
The objectives of this project are:
Evaluating how varying the percentage of RAP used in Idaho HMA and WMA mix designs impacts pavement performance in terms of: a) fatigue cracking; b) thermal cracking; c) rutting; d) roughness.
Identifying the critical factors in RAP that affect HMA and WMA performance.
Develop guidelines that ITD could consider to update its current RAP specification to improve the HMA and WMA pavement performance.
