I-15: Spencer to Montana State Line ProjectI-15 Spencer to Montana State Line Project

Work began in early August to resurface 15.3 miles of Interstate 15 between Spencer, Idaho, and the Montana state line in the summer of 2017. The project includes repaving ramps and cross-streets at the Stoddard Creek Interchange and Humphry Interchange (exits 184 and 190).

Construction Update: Spencer to Montana State Line
Project details

Traffic impacts:
• Crews will work in four-mile segments. I-15 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the work zone.
• The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph when crews are working and 65 mph when crews are not working.
• Because the pavement edge will be abrupt during paving, lane restrictions may continue during hours when crews are not working.
• On- and off-ramps may be closed at night (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) at exits 184 and 190. Only one ramp will be closed at any time.
• Flaggers will direct traffic on local roads during paving at each interchange.

As a part of this project, ITD will also upgrade the guardrail on I-15. Through a method called Cold-in-Place Recycling, ITD will re-use the old pavement in the new roadway. This method reduces waste and lowers costs.
