The GRAIL Page
Geographic Roadway Application for Information Location
Thank you for visiting the GRAIL page. Here you will find special announcements
and version release information concerning the program. Additionally, this site provides
updates to the data files to keep GRAIL as current and useful as possible.
What's New
| March 2002 |
Announcing GRAIL 2.0! This version of grail.exe sports an
entirely redesigned user interface and data management system allowing direct
access to ITD Planning Service's public database over the Web. |
| March 2002 | Announcing Direct
Database Access over the Web. You've seen it before with Highway
Data Quest. It'll put an end to routine manual data downloading for
GRAIL. What is it? It's the Planning Services Public Database.
If you have web access, Grail 2.0 connects directly to this database. If
there is no web access, then the old method of accessing flat files located on
your local machine still works. |
| March 2002 |
Finally! New Flat File Data! The Planning
Services Section would like to announce that the new (2001 vintage) report data is available to our
users. Feel free to stop by the "datamania" page and download the new files. |
| February 2001 | Finally! New Data! The Planning
Services Section is pleased to announce the new (2000 data) report data is available to our
users. Feel free to stop by the "datamania" page and download the new files. |
| March 2000 | Updated 1.0 Executable. The new Grail.exe
file allows for better graphics compatability with Microsoft NT 4.0 workstations. Since this
version also works fine with Windows 95 machines, it is recommended that the new Grail.exe is
downloaded whether the target platform is Win95, Win98, or NT. Go to the "Go Configure" link,
and grab the new "GRAIL 1.0 Executable". |
| November 1999 | GRAIL's New 1.0 Release! Starting at the
end of 1999, users can now make use of the powerful new features of GRAIL! These include
the ability to see more data on the screen at a time, greater flexibility in how the data
is displayed on the screen, and more flexibility in the output of comma-separated data
files for use in other applications such as Microsoft(TM) Excel. |
| November 1999 | GRAIL makes corridor studies easier!
GRAIL has been made available to several consulting firms (including JRH Transportation Engineering
from Eugene, OR; and the TRANSPO Group from Kirkland, WA) in order to provide background information
on highways (such as US-91) that are being specifically targeted for corridor study. |
The Grail Documentation
The "GRAIL documentation" serves as a user's guide to the GRAIL program. It assumes the
user has a copy of GRAIL CD-ROM, however, it is mostly geared at how to use the software
once it is installed. Any help that may be needed in installing and using GRAIL can be
obtained by calling David Coladner at the Idaho Transportation Department, (208) 334-8233,
or Charles Gillin, (208) 334-8232. Additionally, help can be provided by sending email
to either of the following addresses: david.coladner@itd.idaho.gov or charles.gillin@itd.idaho.gov
