Application Basics
Transportation Enhancement (TE) projects are selected through a statewide competitive process.
The information you provide in your application will be used to determine your project’s eligibility,
priority, and placement in the program.
Project Eligibility
In Idaho the program’s stated purpose is “to preserve and create more livable communities where
roads blend with and preserve the natural, social, and cultural environment, by using flexible and
innovative funding and design features of the enhancement funds.”
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) groups the activities into three general categories:
- pedestrian and bicycle,
- scenic and environmental, and
- historic.

Project Solicitation Available NOW
An
form must be submitted to the Idaho Transportation Department by the end of June to be eligible for the
period that begins in the fall. Please carefully review the
for important dates.
|
Compliance with Transportation Goals and Plans
Proposed projects must be consistent with statewide,
local transportation or comprehensive plans covering the project area.
Combining Enhancement Activities with Other Activities
Enhancement activities can be developed as stand-alone projects or as parts of larger projects.
Elements that have a direct relationship to the surface transportation system and that qualify as enhancement
activities can be paid with Transportation Enhancement funds. Other project work must be paid by the sponsor or
through other funding sources and should not be part of the application. An example of this is a visitor’s center
project where a portion of the building will be used as office space for an agency and not for visitor center activity.
