ITD U.S. 93, Golf Course Road, Jerome County
![]() Project Facts
Key Number: 8904Project Number: NH-2390(146) The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and Jerome Highway District are coordinating to plan, design and install a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 93 and Golf Course Road north of the Perrine Bridge in Jerome County. Project Backgound
The intersection of U.S. 93 and Golf Course Road has been near the top of the ITD High Accident Location (HAL) list for the number of and potential for high-speed accidents. The original concept to install a traffic signal was enhanced to provide for improved turn lanes and factoring the anticipated 20-year traffic volume increase. Project Description
The addition of the traffic signal will increase safety in the Golf Course intersection by controlling the turning movements of vehicles exiting U.S. 93 onto Golf Course Road. The signal will also control traffic entering U.S. 93 from east-bound Golf Course Road and west-bound Shoshone Falls Road. Included in intersection improvements will be an additional left-turn lane on north-bound U.S. 93 and will be met with an additional receiving lane on Golf Course Road. Study of the intersection revealed the need to improve the east-bound Golf Course Road right-turn and the U.S. 93 acceleration lane. The improvements will add a dedicated right-turn lane beginning further to the west, provide a right-turn signal and improve the acceleration lane. The U.S. 93/Golf Course Road intersection improvements are currently scheduled for funding during fiscal year 2011. Construction is expected to take place during calendar year 2011. Contacts
