U.S. 93, Jct. I-84 to Jct. Idaho 25 Barrymore Road Project

Project Facts
Key Number: 7800
Project Number: NH-2390(134)

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is currently developing an Environmental Assessment that examines the impacts of future roadway improvements, including access management, to U.S, 93 in the project area. The project will run from the U.S. 93/I-84 interchange (milepost 53.0) to the U.S. 93/ Idaho 25 intersection (milepost 59.4), a distance of 6.4 miles. The project will require cooperation between ITD, Jerome County, the Jerome Highway District and the public to determine the type of reconstruction/rehabilitation needed.

Project Background
This section of U.S. 93 serves as a commuting route for the cities of Twin Falls, Shoshone and Jerome (via Idaho 25). The road also serves the area’s large agricultural-based community. It is also the primary rural route for the intrastate and interstate distribution of goods and services. With continued population, employment and commercial growth, high traffic growth is expected especially in the area between Twin Falls and Idaho 25. This section has been identified as the County’s Commercial Overlay District. Commercial development has already begun with plans for significant development in the near future.

Project Description
This project is currently in an Environmental Assessment stage. Elements of this study include but are not limited to:
  • Access Management
  • Traffic Counts and Data
  • Continued Public Involvement
  • Historic Farmstead Evaluations
  • Right of Way Acquisition
  • Visual and Noise impacts
  • Consistencies with Local Planning and Zoning
  • Safety Improvements including a railroad crossing
  • Increased Traffic Capacity
ITD´s consulting partner for this project is Parsons, Brinkerhoff, Quade and Douglas out of Salt Lake City.
