GARVEE Funded Corridors
The GARVEE Transportation Program has allowed Idaho to invest $857 million in highway improvement projects from 2006 to 2015.
The program was based on Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds, which allow states to use bond proceeds for highway projects.
The bonds are repaid with future federal funds. Idaho’s program focused on high-priority projects that could not be funded
through the state’s traditional pay-as-you-go approach.
The GARVEE Program in Idaho will be completed at the end of 2015. Through the GARVEE program, 35 new bridges, 14 new or improved
interchanges, and 119 miles of highway expansion were completed. The improvements were divided into six corridors.
For an overview of what GARVEE bonds have funded in Idaho, see the Treasure Valley and statewide fact sheets.
The 2015 GARVEE Annual Report includes more detail about the projects and the bond repayment process.
