ITD U.S. 95, Garwood to Sagle, Idaho 53 to Ohio Match
![]() Project Facts:
Project Number: A11(010) This project consists of the reconstruction and realignment of approximately 2.91 miles of U.S. 95 from MP 438.24 to MP 441.15 in Kootenai County. Improvements include construction of 2.91 miles of divided highway, drainage modifications, construction of traffic signals at Idaho 53 and Garwood Road, realignment of shared use path (pedestrian/bike), and traffic counter relocation. Construction began in August 2008 and reached substantial completion in September 2009. Background:
U.S. 95 is the key north-south link for northern Idaho commerce, transportation and tourism. Rapid growth in Bonner and Kootenai counties have caused traffic volumes to approach the capacity of the highway. The corridor between Garwood and Sagle needs to be widened and realigned in order to safely accommodate projected traffic. Schedule and Funding:
The Federal Highway Administration granted environmental clearance for the project in September 2007. Final design and right-of-way acquisition were completed in May 2008.
