Add the Star

Build a personal checklist of the documents you will need to satisfy Idaho’s identification requirements by using the Add the Star Tool below. Just follow the steps indicated on the top of each page. (The checklist is for your personal use – you will not be asked to present this to get a DL or ID.)

Disclaimer: Using the Add the Star Tool does not guarantee you will be able to obtain a Star Card. There are special circumstances that are not covered by the tool. Please contact DMV if you have questions about or need assistance with the documents required to obtain a Star Card.

Step 6 – Get your documents and go!

INSTRUCTIONS: The following list contains the documents you need to bring with you to the DL issuance location. You can print or email this list for future reference.

Your identity document – make sure it is up to date and correct.

Your name change documents - if applicable

- Name change documents

Your Social Security document– make sure it includes your current name.

- SSN document

Your residency documents – make sure they include your current name. They must list a physical address and not a post office box.

Note: Documents must be originals or certified copies and unexpired, unless otherwise noted. Staff will verify all documents presented. Your original documents will be processed and returned to you.

If your Identity Document does not include a photo of yourself, you will be required to provide an additional acceptable photo identity document.

The checklist provides guidelines that may not cover every individual situation. The Idaho Transportation Department reserves the right to reject unverifiable documents and request additional documents or investigate documents presented.

The checklist covers Idaho Transportation Department ID requirements and is not intended to cover documents you may need for specific DL types.
