The Idaho Transportation Department will close the pedestrian bridge over Interstate 84 in Caldwell on Monday. This long-term closure will allow crews to make significant improvements, including repairing concrete, enhancing entrances, installing lighting and fencing, and repainting the bridge. The bridge is expected to remain closed until early 2026. Here’s what to expect:
• The pedestrian bridge will be closed beginning Monday, Jan. 20 through early 2026.
• Pedestrians and bicyclists will detour to 10th Avenue. View the detour map here.
• Lane closures on I-84 will occur at night, Monday through Friday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to work on the bridge.
Drivers are reminded that the speed limit in the I-84 work zone is 55 mph. With workers, trucks, and heavy equipment operating close to traffic, ITD urges motorists to slow down, stay alert, and follow all posted signs.
