SH-44 Star to State

Widening and improving SH-44 will help relieve congestion and increase regional mobility in the area.

Overview

The Idaho Transportation Department is developing plans for improving State Highway 44 from Star Road to West State Street.

This project will environmentally clear plans to improve approximately six miles of SH-44 between Star and Eagle. The plans to widen and improve SH-44 will help relieve congestion and increase regional mobility in the area.

From Star Road to West State Street, ITD will:

Funding

ITD anticipates construction could begin in 2029 or sooner if funding becomes available.

Some improvements, like widening SH-44 between SH-16 and Linder Rd., have already been constructed in this area.

Community Involvement

Community involvement is important to the Idaho Transportation Department and to the success of this project. ITD has met with the community many times throughout the environmental process. In summer 2024, ITD held a public meeting to share the final proposed improvement plans for the project and is working to finalize the environmental analysis.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2024 public meeting! To view information presented during the meeting, visit our online site here. Or check out the video to learn about the feedback we’ve received from the community and the next steps.
