Overview
The Mores Creek Bridge, located 17 miles east of downtown Boise on SH-21, spans the Mores Creek segment of Lucky Peak Reservoir. Originally constructed in 1953, the bridge has undergone several maintenance and preservation projects over the years. ITD’s goal is to extend the bridge’s service life by an additional 26 years through ongoing maintenance and repairs.
Mores Creek Bridge Rehabilitation Work
Over the years, Mores Creek Bridge has undergone several rehabilitation and repair projects, including railing replacement, upgrades to better withstand an earthquake, structural painting and pavement overlay. This work extends the life of the bridge, saving public dollars.
Planned rehabilitation work will include:
• Cleaning and painting the steel parts of the bridge to prevent corrosion.
• Replacing deck joint seals to keep water out.
• Repairing aging concrete to help the bridge deck and supports last longer.
• Reducing and preventing erosion around the bridge area.
Anticipated Construction Impacts – September 2026
ITD anticipates beginning rehabilitation work Sept. 11, 2026.
Work will take place on one half of the bridge at a time to eliminate lengthy detours.
Temporary traffic signals or flaggers at each end of the bridge will control two-way, single-lane operations. Drivers should expect minor delays throughout the duration of the project.
Exception: Wide loads will be required to follow the posted detour route using State Highway 55 to Lowman during construction.
