Overview
Improving this section of highway will provide consistency between two previously expanded sections of the SH-53 corridor; Sylte Road to Latah Street in Rathdrum to the north and near the Pleasant View Interchange to the south.
A continuous center turn lane will allow drivers to safely turn off the highway without impeding thru traffic. Right turn lanes will be added at select intersections, which will be determined after further analysis of crash data and turning movements.
Construction-2029
This section of State Highway 53 from Bruss Road to Latah Street is scheduled to begin construction in 2029.
