Overview
The Idaho Transportation Department is planning upgrades to the SH-50 and Rock Creek Road intersection to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow.
This project was previously funded for construction in 2030. As a result of recent changes in transportation funding, this project is recommended to have its funding removed to prioritize other projects necessary to the operation and preservation of the transportation network.

About 100 community members attended the in-person and online meetings, with 30 of them submitting feedback or comments.

Project Overview
In the first phase of design work, we will study the roadway and surrounding area. We will also look at several possible improvements.
Improvements include:
- Reducing the number of locations where traffic can access SH-50
- Shifting local roads to increase sight distance on SH-50
- Building a traffic signal at SH-50 and Rock Creek Road

Frequently Asked Questions
The intersection of SH-50 and Rock Creek Road was identified as a location with a high number of crashes during a traffic and safety evaluation conducted in 2021. The primary causes were determined to be due to the high volume of traffic and intersections that are severely skewed. This project will mitigate these issues and increase safety at the intersection.
Yes, ITD will host an in-person meeting and a virtual meeting in the fall of 2025 to share design plans, gather feedback and answer questions. There will be further opportunities to provide feedback later in the project.
The project is anticipated to impact some property owners requiring ITD to purchase additional right-of-way. ITD and the project design team will work with them to minimize impact to their properties, when feasible and reasonable.
It is too early to know how traffic will be impacted by construction. ITD will develop traffic plans and share more information when the design plans have been finalized.
