This project was previously funded for construction in 2030. As a result of recent changes in transportation funding, this project is recommended to have its funding removed to prioritize other projects necessary to the operation and preservation of the transportation network.
Comments will be accepted July 1-31 on this project and others in the seven-year plan as part of an annual comment period.
Overview
Currently, SH-41 is a single lane highway in each direction with no dedicated turn lanes at Diagonal Road. Drivers turning left or right must slow in the travel lane, creating conflicts with through traffic. Increasing traffic volumes and speed transitions in this area have contributed to ongoing safety risks.
Purpose
This project aims to improve safety and reduce both the frequency and severity of crashes at the SH-41 Diagonal Road intersection by providing dedicated turning space and improving visibility for drivers. Planned improvements include:
- Addition of a center two-way left turn lane on SH-41
- Construction of a northbound right turn bay on SH-41
- Installation of streetlights to improve visibility for drivers.
Final details will be developed further as the design process progresses into the future. Updates will be shared with the community as new information becomes available.
