US-95 Bonners Ferry to 3-Mile Junction

ITD will repave a section of US-95 from Bonners Ferry to 3-Mile Junction to repair the surface, smooth the ride for drivers, and extend the life of the roadway.

Overview

This project will preserve the existing pavement on US-95 improving ride quality and helping extend the life of the roadway.

Construction planned for 2029

Project Status

This project is currently in the design phase and will address a section of U.S. Highway 95 between the Kootenai River Bridge in Bonners Ferry, and U.S. Highway 2, commonly called 3-Mile Junction. The project team is evaluating pavement conditions to determine the most appropriate preservation treatment, which may include options such as surface treatments, mill and inlay, or other roadway improvement strategies.

Benefits of pavement preservation include:

  • Extends the life of the existing pavement
  • Improves ride quality for drivers
  • Addresses surface wear before more significant deterioration occurs
  • Reduces the need for more costly reconstruction in the future
  • Maintains a safe and reliable roadway
