Transportation partners are called now to comment on ITD’s process for local coordination of the state highway system. Comments are sought through Dec. 23 from cities, counties and highway districts.
Partners are asked to review the updated Non-Metropolitan Local Official Consultation Plan which identifies how the department regularly coordinates with local officials from non-metro areas. The document details opportunities for engagement including participation in board subcommittee meetings, agency advisory board meetings and other working groups and multi-jurisdictional transportation planning groups.
“We have all been impacted by changes to transportation funding in the last year. While this plan doesn’t address funding or projects, it does document how we as an agency strive to listen and coordinate with the more rural areas that aren’t represented by a metropolitan planning organization,” Chief Deputy Laila Kral said. “Now more than ever, we are seeking feedback from you and your communities about how you would like to be communicated with and want to ensure those lines of communication are open.”

This plan was last updated in 2022. This plan does not apply to officials from the six metropolitan areas of Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls that are represented by metropolitan planning organizations that supply modeling expertise to ITD planning staff. ITD meets regularly with all MPOs in the state.
