Idaho saw an 18% drop in impaired driving deaths in 2024, but these crashes still caused over a third of all traffic fatalities. From July 1 to 13, 2025, expect increased patrols as ITD and law enforcement work to stop impaired drivers and save lives.

Beginning tomorrow the Idaho Transportation Department will chip seal the System Interchange in Pocatello. Once this work is complete, the roadway will be restriped to indicate the final lane configurations.

Construction will start tomorrow to apply sealcoats to two sections of U.S. Highway 12 east of Kooskia. Sealcoats are necessary applications that will prolong the life of pavement. They improve the driving surface by waterproofing the roadway and increasing skid resistance for safety.

ITD is repairing five bridges along US-95 between New Meadows and Pollock starting this week, with crews working on multiple sites to extend the life of these structures. Drivers should plan for lane reductions, flaggers or temporary signals, and reduced speed limits during daytime hours in active work zones.

The Idaho Transportation Department invites Magic Valley community members to attend a public meeting on Monday, June 30, to provide input on the Snake River Crossing Project and help review and refine the first phases of analysis and design before the project moves forward.  

Beginning Saturday, traffic on the U.S. Highway 12 Clearwater Memorial Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction in preparation for a new surface that will provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Starting Sunday night, the Idaho Transportation Department will begin maintenance on two Canyon County bridges: the eastbound on-ramp over Indian Creek at the Karcher Interchange in Nampa, and the Centennial Way Railroad bridge in Caldwell.

Beginning Monday, SH-45 will be reduced to one lane between Deer Flat Road and Walter’s Ferry for a sealcoat project to preserve the highway. Crews will work from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily, with traffic directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Expect slower speeds, lane restrictions, and possible delays through late July. The Idaho Transportation Department is removing hazard trees along state highways to improve visibility, reduce crash risks, support wildfire prevention, and enhance winter safety.
