The Idaho Transportation Department will close the intersection of State Highway 55 and Indiana Avenue at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5. Indiana Avenue will remain closed north of the intersection through Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5 a.m. These closures will allow crews to install utilities under the highway.
Over the weekend, highway traffic is encouraged to use Interstate 84, State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 95 as a detour. Click here to view a map of the closure location and detour. From October 5 to October 10, local traffic will access Indiana Avenue from Moss Street or Homedale Road. Drivers should plan ahead, allow extra time and check 511.idaho.gov or the 511 mobile app before traveling.
This work is a part of the larger SH-55, Farmway Road to Middleton Road project which will improve safety and mobility along the SH-55 Corridor in Canyon County. Improvements include additional lanes of traffic, detached pedestrian and bicycle pathways and an undercrossing near 10th Avenue. Construction is expected to finish in 2028.
