The Idaho Transportation Department will close West Locust Lane at 12th Avenue from Thursday until April 1 so crews can install a culvert and underground piping ahead of signal construction at State Highway 45 and Locust Lane next month.
A full closure, instead of the previously announced flagging operation, is necessary so crews can complete work before the April 1 irrigation season. Installing the irrigation ditch infrastructure now allows the project to stay on schedule; otherwise, construction would have to pause until next year. Some nighttime flagging may take place this week in advance of the full closure.
Drivers should follow the signed detour while the closure is in place and watch for crews working in the area. Motorists should check 511.idaho.gov for the most up to date construction impacts.
ITD and the city of Nampa partnered on this project in response to community concerns about safety and traffic operations at Locust Lane and SH-45. The new signal reflects a shared commitment to addressing citizen requests and improving conditions for drivers in the area.
