State Highway 55 (Karcher Road) will close between Lake Avenue and Midway Road from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26. The closure will allow crews to place an overlay on the Wilson Drain bridge. The work will extend the service life of the bridge and provide a textured driving surface for added traction.
Highway traffic is encouraged to use Interstate 84, State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 95 as a detour. View a map of the closure location and detour. Drivers should plan ahead, allow extra time and check 511.idaho.gov or the 511 mobile app before traveling.
This work is a part of larger efforts underway since 2024 to add additional lanes of traffic, separated pedestrian and bicycle pathways and an undercrossing at 10thAvenue on SH-55 in Canyon County. Construction is expected to finish in 2028. For more information about the project, visit itd.idaho.gov/project/55farmway, call 208-477-1379, or email info@55farmwaytomiddleton.org.
