Construction starts March 29
Construction will begin Sunday evening on the Greensferry overpass above I-90 and will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through June.
Overview
Construction is expected to begin in late March and be completed by mid-June to repair bridge fencing, railings and apply a concrete overlay to the driving surface to extend the life of the Greensferry Road overpass above Interstate 90.
What to expect during construction
All work impacting traffic is planned to take place at night to keep daytime traffic disruptions to a minimum. The bridge carries two lanes of traffic in each direction with sidewalks on both sides. No daytime lane closures are expected; however, pedestrian detours may be in place directing sidewalk users to one side or the other. Nighttime single- lane closures on I-90 beneath the overpass are be expected through construction.
Drivers using the intersections on either side of the bridge, at Seltice Way and Mullan Avenue, should be aware that some adjustments to traffic patterns may occur in the area throughout construction. Any detours or alternate routes will be clearly posted.
Once completed, a similar companion project will begin on the bridge connecting State Highway 41 and State Highway 53 over the BNSF railroad tracks in Rathdrum; likely beginning between June and July and ending by late fall. Drivers can expect similar impacts in Rathdrum once that project begins later this summer.
