Overview
This project will preserve and extend the life of US-95 between Lewiston Hill and Thorn Creek Road by repairing worn pavement and upgrading roadway safety features along the corridor.
Background
US-95 between Lewiston and Moscow has undergone significant improvements over the last several years to create a safer route through north-central Idaho. Major projects along the corridor have included the new four-lane Thorn Creek to Moscow alignment, which improves grades, reduces conflict points and enhances overall mobility between the two communities.
Planned pavement work between Lewiston Hill and Thorn Creek builds on those long-term investments by preserving the roadway surface and improving ride quality along an important connection to the modernized corridor.
Construction
Construction on the Lewiston Hill to Thorn Creek Road project is expected to begin in mid-July and continue through September. The project will improve pavement conditions and roadway safety along the corridor through the following improvements:
- Mill and inlay approximately 90,000 tons of asphalt between mileposts 319.86 and 334.15
- Repair wheel ruts, cracking and other pavement wear
- Upgrade guardrail and roadway delineation features
- Reinstall rumble strips
- Update roadway striping
During paving operations, some side streets and approaches may temporarily close to allow the new pavement time to cool before vehicles can safely drive on it. Once the paving operation passes an intersection or approach, cross traffic may need to wait briefly before access is restored.
