ITD is realigning the curve on SH-13 in Idaho County to minimize future accidents.


This project was previously funded for construction in 2029. As a result of recent changes in transportation funding, this project is recommended to have its funding removed to prioritize other projects necessary to the operation and preservation of the transportation network. Comment July 1-31 on this project and others in the seven-year plan.

Overview

The scope of the State Highway 13 Curve Improvement in Kooskia is to realign the current roadway curve from mileposts 23.34 to 23.74. The project will be accomplished by realigning the horizontal and vertical curves, widening the highway, and flattening the slopes of the existing curve to minimize future accidents within this section of highway. The results of the project will be safer curve to eliminate the frequency and severity of accidents in the region.

Construction Outlook

Construction was programmed to begin in 2029. Work is anticipated to take 2.5 months to complete, with one lane closed. Impacts could change once a contractor is hired, typically within one year of the start of construction.
