The highway reconstruction project in Gooding will begin this summer starting by the 1050 South Road and ending at 1st Street.

Overview

The paving and sidewalk work should be complete by early fall 2026 with the seal coat most likely getting done next year.

Project Details

The highway reconstruction project in Gooding began July 20th 2026. The project will consist of removal of the existing pavement, recompacting the base and repaving with fresh asphalt followed by new paint and a seal coat starting approximately ½ mile south of the US-26/SH-46 intersection at the 1950 S Road to 1st Street. Essentially building a new road for those traveling through and around the City of Gooding to enjoy.

In addition to the roadway construction, ADA ramps will be reconstructed at every intersection through town to meet ADA requirements, on the east side of SH-46 new sidewalks will be constructed from the US-26/SH-46 intersection to Washington St. The concrete irrigation ditches will be removed from 9th St. to 13th St on the west side. The cross walk at 14th street will be updated with flashing beacons to allow safer pedestrian traffic across the highway and an additional cross walk will be added at Orchard St.

The paving and sidewalk work should be complete by early fall 2026 with the seal coat most likely completed the following year in 2027.

So far ADA ramps have been installed from 2nd to 6th. The contractor will systematically continue to work through the next sections in various areas. During fair week there may be some construction in the area however there will not be any impact to the public.

We ask that the public stay alert and watch for the construction personnel and changes to traffic patterns.

A Public Meeting was held at the City of Gooding building located on July 13th. ITD received several comments with concerns about additional sidewalks and work being done during the fair and rodeo. Work will not be done during the Gooding Fair and Rodeo in late August.
