The Lapwai Creek railroad trestle spans across US-95 in Culdesac Canyon is scheduled for removal to improve safety and eliminate one of the few height restrictions on the corridor.

Overview

The Idaho Transportation Department will remove the abandoned railroad bridge over US-95 near milepost 283 to eliminate one of the few vertical clearance restrictions on the US-95 corridor between Oregon and Canada, improving safety for oversized loads and supporting future improvements in the area.

Benefits

This structure must be removed because it crosses directly over US-95 and restricts vehicle clearance.

Removing the bridge will:

Eliminate the risk of vehicles striking the structure.
Improve freight mobility along Idaho’s primary north-south highway.
Support future improvements in the Culdesac Canyon corridor.
