This project was previously funded for construction in 2029. As a result of recent changes in transportation funding, this project is recommended to have its funding removed to prioritize other projects necessary to the operation and preservation of the transportation network. Comments will be accepted July 1-31 on this project and others in the seven-year plan as part of an annual comment period.
Overview
A one mile passing lane will be added for northbound drivers just before they travel down the Winchester grade at milepost 278 in Lewis County. In addition to the passing lane construction, a northbound acceleration lane will be constructed for traffic entering the highway from the rest area. This will be accomplished by performing soil cuts, fills, culvert work, and approach reconstruction in support of the passing lane design.
The goal of this project is to reduce the northbound traffic congestion descending Culdesac Canyon on US-95 and reduce traffic delays.
