Replacing the bridge will allow it to safely carry vehicles over the Clearwater River.


Overview

A northbound passing lane will provide safer opportunities to pass south of Lapwai.

Background

The bridge was built in 1935 and is currently posted as a one-lane structure for trucks and buses. The current bridge will be replaced with one that is up to current design standards.

Construction

Anticipated construction year is currently 2027. Additional information can be found in the District 2 Highways Project List (approved Idaho Transportation Investment Program – Seven-year plan)

The East Kooskia Bridge over the river can be seen from a large distance away.
