Project Overview

ITD is evaluating US-95 between the Rapid River Bridge and Riggins in Idaho County.

This project includes:

  • Evaluating current conditions of US-95 to enhance safety and reduce crashes
  • Gathering input from community leaders and the public
  • Developing options for improving US-95

The evaluation work is anticipated to be completed in late 2026.

Community Involvement

Community involvement is important to ITD and to the success of this project. ITD will provide multiple opportunities for community members to provide input during the evaluation process.

The Idaho Transportation Department held a working group for community leaders to learn about the project, identify issues and discuss ideas for US-95 on Dec. 4, 2024.

Attendees go over documents at the open house.

Thank you

Thank You for Participating in the Jan. 29 Open House!

We appreciate everyone who attended the open house to learn about the US-95, Rapid River Bridge to Riggins project, ask questions and share input.

What we heard:

  • Concerns about speed limits, access and visibility.
  • Suggestions for safety improvements, including guardrails, turn lanes and traffic signals.
  • Questions about property impacts, ditches and increasing traffic.

At this time we are too early in project development to thoroughly analyze these suggestions. As we move forward, we will be studying safety improvements and impacts based on your feedback. This analysis will help summarize responses to your questions.

If you were unable to attend, view the meeting materials.

We will return to gather more input, address comments from the previous open house and share developed alternatives at our next open house in fall 2026. Stay tuned for details!
