ITD hosts a public meeting in Middleton.

The Idaho Transportation Department is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Feb. 18, to share updated plans to improve Interstate 84 in Canyon County between State Highway 44 and Centennial Way (Exits 25 & 27).

The community is invited to view current plans for the SH-44 interchange and see the latest information on the environmental study for I-84 from SH-44 to Centennial Way.

Open House Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026
  • Time: 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. (drop in anytime)
  • Location: Middleton Trolley Station (310 Cornell Street, Middleton)

For those unable to attend in-person, the same information will be available online from Feb. 18 to March 4 at itd.idaho.gov/project/i-84-sh-44-to-centennial-way. Community members are welcome to review and submit comments during this two-week period.

This will be the final open house before ITD completes the environmental study. During the project, ITD has identified improvements to enhance safety, mobility and capacity.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Widening I-84 to three lanes in each direction  and replacing irrigation structures
  • Replacing and improving several interchanges
  • Replacing and widening the Boise River Bridge

Elements of this project are funded with Transportation Expansion and Congestion Mitigation funds as part of Governor Little’s Leading Idaho Program. This initiative allows ITD to take a deliberate approach to invest in projects within the TECM corridors that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho’s economy and positively impact communities across the state for years to come.

This project is part of an ongoing effort to improve the I-84 corridor in Canyon County.  To learn more about the project, visit the project website at itd.idaho.gov/project/i-84-sh-44-to-centennial-way, call (208) 334-8002 or text 84CORRIDOR to 1-866-483-8422.
