What this study includes
This study began in 2023. It includes:
- Completing a traffic and safety study
- Completing an environmental evaluation
- Meeting with stakeholders and gathering input
- Prioritizing needed improvements

Improvements being considered

This study will look at several improvements including:
- Widening I-84 and replacing irrigation structures.
- Replacing the US-20/26 Interchange.
- Replacing two ramps at the Centennial Way Interchange.
- Replacing and widening the Boise River Bridge near Centennial Way.
- Replacing the SH-44 Interchange.
Next steps
ITD will receive environmental approval for the I-84, SH-44 to Centennial Way project in 2026. Right now, there is no funding to design or build the planned widening of I-84 between SH-44 and Centennial Way.
However, ITD does have funding to design improvements for the SH-44 Interchange. Design started in 2025 and is expected to be complete in 2026.

Finalize design and construction plans for the SH-44 interchange.
