I-84 closured moved to tomorrow night due to weather.

NAMPA — The Idaho Transportation Department has moved the scheduled eastbound Interstate 84 closure between the Garrity Interchange (Exit 38) and Ten Mile Interchange (Exit 42) from Thursday, Oct. 22, to Wednesday, Oct. 21, due to rain and thunderstorms forecasted later this week.

What to expect Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Eastbound I-84 will be closed between the Garrity and Ten Mile interchanges.
  • Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Franklin Road. View the detour map.
  • Westbound I-84 will be reduced to two lanes.

The closure will allow crews to place concrete on the bridge decks of the new State Highway 16 flyover ramps above I-84. Nighttime lane restrictions on eastbound and westbound I-84 will continue through fall as construction progresses on the SH-16 and I-84 interchange, which is expected to open in 2027. This interchange will allow for free flowing traffic between I-84 and the new SH-16.

Drivers should plan extra time, follow posted detour signs and check 511.idaho.gov or the 511 mobile app for the latest information on closures and delays. For project information, visit itd.idaho.gov/project/sh16construction.
