I-84, SH-44 to Centennial Way

The Idaho Transportation Department is working on a study to evaluate future needs and potential improvements on Interstate 84 between State Highway 44 (exit 25) and Centennial Way (exit 27) interchanges.

This project is part of ITD’s ongoing efforts to improve I-84 in Canyon County.

ITD will receive environmental approval for the I-84, SH-44 to Centennial Way project in 2026.  Right now, there is no funding to design or build the planned widening of I-84 between SH-44 and Centennial Way.

However, ITD does have funding to design improvements for the SH-44 Interchange.  Design work started in 2025 and completion is expected in 2026.

Join ITD at our public meeting to see the latest SH-44 Interchange proposed improvements on Wednesday, February 18. If you can’t attend in person, check back on February 18 to join us online.

This study began in 2023.  It includes:

• Completing a traffic and safety study
• Completing an environmental evaluation
• Meeting with stakeholders and gathering input
• Prioritizing needed improvements

This study will look at several improvements including:

• Improve safety on I-84, ramps, bridges and other structures.
• Meet current design standards for I-84 and other infrastructure.   
• Upgrade infrastructure that is nearing the end of its service life.
